Finished the School Year!!

WOO HOO! I am so thrilled to be done with the school year. Although, I have to say that this was such a fun year. My favorite subjects were Astronomy and History. Yes, we spent an entire year on Astronomy and it was well worth every minute. I am looking forward to going camping with the kids this year, maybe Grandma can bring her telescope so we can check out the stars at night.
Some things to look forward to for the summer. Dash is going to do theater, we will be vacationing and I am becoming a Pampered Chef consultant.
So, no matter how far away you are, if you want to host a party, let me know. I can do catalog shows to anywhere in the USA!

Shopping with my kids.

I went shopping yesterday, Elijah was out past his nap time and very tired (whiny). Anyway, as I approached the cashier she asked me how I was doing. I said that I was ready to be home so the little one can get his nap. She decided to let me know her opinion as to why infants with older siblings are always crying in the store.
She told me that it was because the older siblings are mean to their baby brother or sister. "They are being mean to him when I am not looking" and "They are taking things away from him" were her words.

I nicely informed her that my children do not do that. That in fact, the baby never even had anything in his hand for them to take. And that if anything, my kids have been trying to soothe him or help him by getting his cup for him. She left it at that. Then without saying anything, all three of the older ones started grabbing my grocery bags and placing them in the cart (helping out). As the lady handed me my receipt, she looked at me and said, " you have a good day, and you really do have good kids."
Thank you Lord for the blessings you have given me. :D

P90X Was Hard to Do Last Night

Yes, we are on week 9 and last night was one of the hardest to do. We had legs, back and abs and it was hard to do. It felt like a chore, not the fun we had in the beginning too phases. I was tuckered out by the lunge sequence. I guess we all have out off days, this was ours. We will get back on track and keep pressing play though.

Hopefully things will be better when we do Kempo tonight (one of my favorites).

Lately in the News of Home Schooling

There was a recent article that stated that home school curriculum is not teaching evolution. A lady by the name of Susan Mule in Ky, purchased the Apologia curriculum, a very well known Christian curriculum, that even says in the title "Exploring Creation through...." and was disturbed to find out that the book gives its opinion on the Evolution theory and supports its opinion on Creation.
Really? Then she calls the press and whines about it. First of all, read the title of the book! Who purchases curriculum for their child and doesn't go through it first? Second, don't start saying that I am short-changing my kids because I teach my kids Creation. I will teach the Evolution Theory to my children too but I will teach as it is a theory (not a fact) like they want to teach in the public school system. I think you are short-changing your kids by denying then the facts.
The curriculum in question does teach the Evolution theory throughout their curriculum. They teach it just as it is, a THEORY! They point out the problems that the theory has and has had for many years.
Here is the article:

If you would like to know more about the holes in the Evolution Theory here are a couple sites to read:

It is very important that we prepare our children to be able to stand up for what they believe in. The Devil has many schemes to take our children away, this is a big one. If he can make the first few chapters of the bible "NOT TRUE" then how will our children be able to believe the rest of it.

Genesis 1

The Beginning
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

6 And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." 7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the expanse "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

9 And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "seas." And God saw that it was good.

11 Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.

14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.

20 And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." 23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.

24 And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food." And it was so.

31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

Home School Fun

Just some pics of some fun we have had recently. The kids love to paint and I love incorporating that into school. So last week (on a somewhat sunny day) we had an art class outside. I pretty much left them up to their own imaginations. Violet painted my new flowers on one of her paintings. Jack-Jack is really into drawing rainbows lately and Dash loves to paint things from Indiana Jones.

Spring is around the Corner!

Well its March and its sunny! Everyone comes out of hiding here in Oregon any time the sun comes out. Its so nice to get outside and get some sun. Today we planted more bulbs for summer blooms. Crocus and begonias will be the new additions for summer. I also bought some daffodils for the first time. These are the little daffodils though. Gardening is something that I have always wanted to do but never had time for before. I think I am finally getting it.
School is doing well. We are more than halfway done with the year. Violet has already finished all her math program and Dash is about 2 weeks from finishing his. I will make up some worksheets for more practice on things that they need to work on. Dash has learned quite a bit of Spanish this year with the Rossetta Stone program (he knows more than I do). Astronomy has been a lot of fun, so much fun that I cannot wait to start the next book in the series, Botany.
Mr. Incredible and I are still doing the P90X thing. This week is our 2nd rest week. The program has you do some pretty intense workouts for 3 weeks, then you have a rest week. You still work out but its more cardio than lifting. We are resting our new muscles. Its been good, I have had lots of fun doing the program. The DVD's are easy to follow and you can modify them to your needs. Also, they are motivating. Tony does a great job keeping you into doing the workout. You are never doing something so long that you poop out before they do. In the end, we are dripping in sweat and are ready for that yummy recovery drink (sometimes I just want to do the work out so I can have my recovery drink). Its really delicious.
We are all finally over being sick, I pray for the rest of the year. Its really hard when you have 3 kids that are still sucking their thumbs or fingers. I have tried to get Violet to stop but its still not something she is ready to give up.
New Carpet is the BIG news. Yes, we are getting new carpet. I know, it would have been better to do that when we were first moving in 5 years ago but now is when we can do it. So we are.
Well, I am hoping that I can stay more on top of this blogging thing again. Til next time.

Have they made this blog thing easier yet?

Sorry if anyone even reads my blog anymore. I know that I have been terrible at keeping it updated. The last time I tried to blog, I remembered having some technical difficulties. So I thought I would give it a try and see if I still have those problems. I hope you are all doing great.

Some things going on since the last post. Mr. Incredible is now working as an SRO (got a promotion at work). Dash is in the 3rd grade now and going to be in Snow White for the local Children s Theater. Violet is doing 1st grade this year and currently not in ballet. Her class was canceled this session because her instructor retired. Jack-Jack is almost 4 and wants to start pre-school. Bird-Boy is growing fast and already wants to try potty training.

Mr Incredible and I are doing a workout program called P90X. We are on week 7 and it has been really hard since we have been fighting sickness for a couple weeks now.

I will try to post some pics when I get the chance.
